Wireless 802.11b            

A fairly new technology it allows communication with radio waves through the air thus doing away with cables which would be needed. The 802.11b standard is used in network communication systems to provide communication between i.e routers ,access points,pc's and laptops

This has the following advantages:

Wireless 802.11b

 Works via a radio frequency from transmitter node attached to your network (by direct network connection)

and transmits at a maximum of 11Mbps at a range indoors of up to 175ft (53m)

Outdoors at at maximum range of 835ft (255m)                           

                              

This is Received by wireless card in your pc or laptop .

 A newer standard is 802.11g and the very new 802.11n ,which both give increased speed
