Take the Heat !
What can be done to dissipate heat inside your pc case ?
Many thing's can be done they include
- Fit additional Fans either picking up power from spare power supply
connection or using supplied motherboard connections (only on some boards)
- Use a specially design graphic's board cooler (suitable for ATI and Nvidia
Cards) these use a quiet two speed fan and ducting to channel heat from your
card out of the back of a spare card slot.( Available from pcworld )
- Aluminium or copper heat sinks are available to fit onto memory chips
- You can if you wish cut additional holes in your case for additional fans
, a good place is the top as heat rises
- You can cut additional holes to allow more heat escape
- You can use water-cooling for processor . Note when
water cooling is used , on its own the chip can not be cooled any cooler than
the ambient air unless a Peltier block is used as well
- Fan airflow can be ducted inside and outside your case to prevent air from
recirculation inside the case
- Drive ribbon cables often block and prevent proper air circulation inside
the case. This can be reduced by using new round cables or changing to new SATA
drives which use very thin cables
- Power cables should also be bound together to aid better air circulation
- Additional fans can also be fitted to hard drives , in drive bays and in
card slots if required.
Obliviously if your system does not get too hot some of the above is not
necessary. Please refer to the maximum temperature specification for processor
and board components used.
