Blu-Ray DVD Technology

Most people are now able to buy High Definition TV's. This improvement in picture quality and sound has made the size of DVD films to large for the standard DVD disk format.

Manufactures came up with the following solution. They found if a Blue ray laser with a shorter wavelength was used instead of a red ray type laser  ,a DVD could hold about 5 times more data for HD films .

A single layer disk could hold 25 GB and a dual layer could hold 50 GB.

This meant a film could be recorded onto a optical disk with high definition up to 1920 x 1080 pixels with room for uncompressed theatre like surround

sound.

Blu-Ray DVD recorder's and disks now starting to appear in shop's. Also built into desktop and laptop pc's.
